Helen's, Drexler's and the open campus
Remember when the Fairfax H.S campus was open and students could cross Melrose and go to any of the eateries on Melrose for lunch? Remember Helen's on the corner of Spaulding and Melrose or Drexler's near Genisee? How about the teacher who wore the hippie sandals and would kick us out of Drexler's? Remember the pinhall machines there? Of course you do! Remember playing Asteroids and Pacman?
